Riftbound's Nine Radiance Legends: Seraphine, Ziggs, Jarvan IV, Ekko and More

Radiance introduces nine new Legends and eight are now public. Only one of them has fully revealed rules text.

That gap between "revealed" and "understood" is worth naming upfront. Riot has shown artwork and names for most of these champions while holding back the mechanics, so this guide separates what each Legend actually does from what we only know by name.

Radiance releases 23 October 2026. Reveal status is accurate as of 1 October, tracked via riftbound.zone and RiftCompare, with set structure confirmed on riftbound.gg.

First: what a Legend actually is

This trips up newcomers, and it matters for everything below.

A Legend card sits in your Legend Zone, not on the board. It's an identity card that defines your deck, and it has no energy cost and no Might stat. Its ability is available as a persistent effect rather than something you play.

A Champion Unit is a regular card you play to the board with a cost and Might, representing the same character in battle.

So a champion can appear twice in one set as two different cards. Seraphine does exactly that in Radiance, which is why you'll see her listed two ways.

Riven and K'Sante come from community reveal channels rather than official Riot posts. Treat them as strong reporting rather than confirmed.

Seraphine, the only fully revealed Legend

Seraphine, Starry-Eyed Songstress is the one Legend with complete rules text.

Her ability reads: as an additional cost to play a spell, you may exhaust her and three friendly units to reduce that spell's cost by 2.

That's a build-around discount engine. It rewards decks that go wide with cheap units and then cast something expensive, and the cost is paid from your board rather than your hand.

She prints at RAD 151/167, with art by Naifan Zhang, plus a Signature chase version at RAD 174/167* by Anna Nikonova.

Separately, Seraphine, Not Alone is an Epic Order Champion Unit at RAD 138/167, costing 5 energy with 1 Might. When played or exhausted she puts a 1 Might Recruit token into your base and gains +1 Might for each other exhausted unit you control.

The two cards work together. The Legend wants exhausted units; the Champion Unit creates them and grows from them.

Ekko and the Empower connection

Ekko, Boy Who Shattered Time is the second Legend with a revealed ability.

You can disempower Ekko to reduce the cost of your next unit, but that unit is killed at the end of the turn.

That's a genuine trade rather than a straight discount. You get something expensive onto the board a turn early and lose it when the turn ends, which makes Ekko a card about immediate impact rather than board building.

He uses Empower, the mechanic introduced in Vendetta, and sits in Fury and Mind. That makes him the clearest example of Radiance building on the previous set rather than starting fresh.

Orianna and the Equipment Unit mechanic

Orianna, Lady of Clockwork is tied to one of Radiance's two new card types.

Equipment Units are Gear that can become Units, and Orianna's ability is the trigger that makes the conversion happen, with the Gear auto-unequipping first.

That blurs a category line Riftbound has kept clean until now, since Gear and Units have always been separate. Her full rules text hasn't been published, so how the conversion works in detail is still open.

She sits in Calm and Mind.

The Legends we only know by name

Four champions have been announced with little or no mechanical information.

  • Evelynn, Agony's Embrace has artwork shown and headlines a Showdown Deck alongside Seraphine, but no stats or rules text
  • Jarvan IV, Martial Paragon has a name and art
  • Ziggs has been announced with no gameplay details at all
  • Mordekaiser, Iron Revenant appeared during preview season with art

For the two Showdown Deck champions, Seraphine and Evelynn, there's a shortcut. Those decks cost $34.99 and come ready to play, which is a cheaper and more certain route to either champion than opening packs.

What's still coming

One Legend remains hidden, due before preview season closes on 9 October 2026.

As of 1 October, 95 of the set's 180 cards are public, so there's a substantial reveal window left. Expect the remaining Legend rules text to land in that window rather than at launch.

Our rarities and pull rates guide covers how Legends and their premium versions have been distributed across earlier sets.

How JK Index helps

We index the full Riftbound catalog with sold history for each printing, and we track a champion's Legend card separately from their Champion Unit.

Seraphine shows exactly why. Her Legend at RAD 151/167, her Signature at 174*/167 and her Champion Unit at 138/167 are three different cards with three different markets, and collapsing them under one name would misprice all three.

You can browse earlier sets including Origins, Spiritforged, Unleashed and Vendetta, track what you own in your portfolio, or check listings on the marketplace.

The takeaway

Eight of the nine Radiance Legends are public, but only Seraphine and Ekko have revealed abilities. Everything else is artwork and a name.

The one structural point worth carrying away is that a Legend and a Champion Unit are different cards for the same character. Seraphine has both, they're designed to work together, and they'll trade as separate markets once the set lands.

FAQ

How many Legends are in Riftbound Radiance?

Nine. Eight have been revealed as of 1 October 2026, with one still hidden ahead of preview season closing on 9 October.

What's the difference between a Legend and a Champion Unit?

A Legend sits in your Legend Zone as an identity card with no energy cost or Might, defining your deck. A Champion Unit is played to the board with a cost and Might like any other unit.

What does Seraphine do in Riftbound?

Her Legend, Starry-Eyed Songstress, lets you exhaust her and three friendly units as an additional cost to reduce a spell's cost by 2. Her separate Champion Unit creates Recruit tokens and grows with exhausted units.

What does Ekko do in Radiance?

Ekko, Boy Who Shattered Time lets you disempower him to reduce the cost of your next unit, but that unit is killed at the end of the turn. He uses Empower, introduced in Vendetta.
