One Piece Manga Art Cards Explained: Why They Cost More

A Roronoa Zoro OP06-118 costs $7.49. The Alternate Art Manga version of that exact card number costs $2,675.35.

Same character, same set, same number. The only difference is the artwork, and it's worth roughly 357 times more.

Manga art cards are One Piece's signature collectible, and they sit at the top of almost every set's price list. This guide explains what they are, why they command these prices, and what each one trades for.

Prices come from PriceCharting's aggregated sold data, pulled 6 October 2026. Rules and set context follow TCG Talk's beginner guide, the OPTCG rules reference and the set calendar at OP Box Index.

What a manga art card actually is

Most One Piece cards use newly commissioned artwork drawn for the card game.

A manga art card doesn't. It uses a panel taken from Eiichiro Oda's original manga, reproduced on the card with the black-and-white linework and screentone of the printed page.

That's the whole concept. You're not getting a new illustration of Luffy, you're getting the actual panel from the chapter where the moment happened.

For a series that has run since 1997, that's a direct link to the source material rather than an interpretation of it. It's the closest thing the card game has to owning a piece of the manga.

Where they sit in a set

Manga art cards almost always carry card numbers above the base set count, typically ending in 118, 119 or 120.

Look at the pattern: Luffy's manga card is OP05-119, Zoro's is OP06-118, Gol D. Roger's is OP09-118, Mihawk's is OP14-119.

That numbering convention tells you something before you check a price. A high number in a One Piece set usually signals a premium treatment, the same way Riftbound uses numbers above the set total for its collector tier.

Values move with the market.

Note that manga cards appear in every set from OP-01 Romance Dawn through OP-17. This isn't an occasional bonus treatment, it's a fixture of the game's design.

Why the premium is so extreme

Three things stack on top of each other.

Low pull rates. Manga art cards sit at the rarest end of a set's distribution, which is why they're numbered above the base count.

Character gravity. The manga treatment goes to the series' biggest names. Luffy, Zoro, Roger, Shanks, Kaido, Whitebeard. Those characters carry 25 years of audience attachment before a card game ever touched them.

Source authenticity. You can commission new Luffy art any time. You cannot commission a new panel from a chapter published in 2003. The panel is fixed, and that gives the card a kind of scarcity that artwork alone doesn't have.

Together those produce the ratios you see. A base Zoro at $7.49 and a manga Zoro at $2,675.35 isn't a rarity premium, it's three premiums compounding.

Graded prices on the top two

For the two most valuable, full graded data exists.

Monkey D. Luffy [Alternate Art Manga] OP05-119: $8,405.00 raw, $8,105.00 in a PSA 9, $15,692.31 in a PSA 10.

Roronoa Zoro [Alternate Art Manga] OP06-118: $2,675.35 raw, $2,010.31 in a PSA 9, $4,574.99 in a PSA 10.

Notice the PSA 9 figures on both sit below the raw price. That's a clear signal: on cards this expensive, the market pays for a perfect grade or nothing. A 9 is treated as a damaged copy rather than a near-miss.

If you're considering submitting one, that asymmetry is the whole risk. The upside is real, but anything short of a 10 can cost you money against simply selling it raw.

The Premium Booster reprints

One wrinkle worth understanding before you buy.

Both of the top manga cards were reprinted in Premium Booster PRB01, and the reprints trade separately from the originals.

CardOriginalPRB01 reprint
Luffy OP05-119 manga~$8,405.00~$3,227.05
Zoro OP06-118 manga~$2,675.35~$2,258.00

The Luffy reprint sits at roughly 38% of the original. The Zoro reprint sits at 84%.

That gap matters when you're shopping. A listing saying "Luffy OP05-119 manga" could be either version, and the difference is over $5,000. Always check whether a card is the original print or the PRB01 reprint.

You can browse the Premium Booster set on JK Index to see what else it reprinted.

Which manga cards are actually affordable

Not all of them cost thousands.

The bottom of the table sits around $620 to $780: Mihawk OP14-119, Trafalgar Law OP10-119, Charlotte Linlin OP17-112 and Enel OP15-118.

Those are still serious money, but they're the entry point to the treatment. And they feature characters with real followings rather than being throwaway inclusions.

The cheapest route of all is a non-manga alternate art of the same character. A plain Alternate Art Zoro OP06-118 trades around $117.30, sitting between the $7.49 base card and the $2,675.35 manga version.

How JK Index helps

We index the full One Piece catalog with its own sold history for every printing, tracking manga art, alternate art and base versions of the same card number separately.

Zoro OP06-118 is the argument for that. Three printings share one card number at $7.49, $117.30 and $2,675.35, so a single price for that number would be wrong by a factor of 357 at one end.

You can browse sets including Romance Dawn, Awakening of the New Era, Wings of the Captain and Emperors in the New World, track what you own in your portfolio, or check the marketplace.

The takeaway

Manga art cards reproduce panels from Oda's original manga rather than new commissioned artwork, and they sit above the base set numbering at 118, 119 or 120.

They top almost every set's price list, from Luffy's Red Manga at $8,955.18 down to Mihawk at $624.23. And on the same card number, the manga version can cost hundreds of times the base card, as Zoro's $7.49 against $2,675.35 shows.

FAQ

What is a manga art card in One Piece?

A card that uses a panel from Eiichiro Oda's original manga as its artwork, reproduced with the black-and-white linework of the printed page, instead of new art commissioned for the card game.

Why are One Piece manga cards so expensive?

Three factors compound: they sit at the rarest end of a set's distribution, they're given to the series' biggest characters, and the artwork is a fixed historical panel that can't be recreated.

What is the most expensive manga art card?

Monkey D. Luffy [Red Manga] OP13-118 from Carrying on His Will at around $8,955.18 raw. The Luffy Alternate Art Manga OP05-119 follows at $8,405.00, reaching $15,692.31 in a PSA 10.

How do I spot a manga art card?

Check the card number. Manga cards almost always sit above the base set count, typically ending in 118, 119 or 120, such as OP05-119 for Luffy or OP06-118 for Zoro.

What's the difference between the original and the PRB01 version?

Premium Booster PRB01 reprinted several manga cards. The Luffy OP05-119 reprint trades at roughly $3,227.05 against $8,405.00 for the original, so always check which print a listing is offering.

Are manga cards worth grading?

Only if you expect a 10. On both Luffy and Zoro, the PSA 9 price sits below the raw price, meaning the market treats anything short of a perfect grade as worse than ungraded.

Which manga art cards are cheapest?

Dracule Mihawk OP14-119 at around $624.23, Trafalgar Law OP10-119 at $642.91, Charlotte Linlin OP17-112 at $754.00 and Enel OP15-118 at $777.96.

Does every One Piece set have manga art cards?

They appear in every main set from OP-01 Romance Dawn through OP-17, so they're a fixture of the game's design rather than an occasional treatment.
